World’s First Eyeball Tattoo – Ouch!
by Diana Eid

can this person's nails be any dirtier?
A Toronto man has been the first to get an eyeball tattoo. Basically, he has turned the whites of his eyes blue.
Corneal tattooing is usually used for patients that have had trauma to their eye, not for this, which is called body modification.

It took 40 injections of blue ink in order to complete this procedure. Pigment was injected under the top layer of the eye using a syringe. The syringe injected the ink into the eye. At first they had tried a traditional needle with ink on it, but when the ink didn’t hold, they switched to the syringe.
The man has reported that all is well so far, but it feels like he has something in his eye.

often, when someone gets creative and they do something that really hasn’t been done before… pierce, stretch, pull, inject, vaccuum out or fill in i think it’s impressive whether its something i would want to do to myself or not. when a friend of mine decided to get her eyebrows tattooed onto her face, i balked and made some random noise that definitely translated to disgust. i have two tattoos and although they did hurt a decent amount as they were being done, they are both in places that are hardly as sensitive as the space above your eyes. i’ve had my tongue pierced, i have a ring in my left nipple, have had my nose pierced twice, numerous holes up both of my ears including the upper cartilage area and the tragus too. each generation is almost expected to do a few major things that shock the generation before them. my older brothers grew up before the whole grunge era/body piercing craze that i fell right into. the only thing the generation after mine that is ridiculous and shocking is the fact that preteens have cellphones and myspace pages and twitter accounts. kids having sex and making babies right at the verge of puberty has been an ongoing sartorial of the great ole american way. i would have to narrow this current generation (not sure what letter it is because i think we may have run out of them by now) down to the attention deficit/depression/prescription medication/plastic surgery era…or should we say error?
but this…this…..THIS is absofuckinglutely insane! there is nothing cool about it except for the fact that the white part of his eyes is now blue until the day he dies. it’s actually a pretty shade of blue but that has no bearing on the ridiculousness of the process he just went through. i thought for a second that i might be overreacting and have fallen victim to adulthood but no…your sight is not something you should voluntarily risk losing. the pain alone is enough to make me squirm into a shiny pink bowl of jelly but the pain will most likely subside. he said that it just feels like something is in his eye. yes dumbass…there’s a bunch of blue ink in your eye and it’s not going anywhere so get used to it freak! haha
