We caught wind of this brilliant and powerful speech a little late but just in time for Pride Month as well as adding another edition to our Exploring Elsewhere Series this month.  The powerful speech from Ban Ki-moon has been given a beautiful sonic backdrop as well as a very strong set of images.   The speech alone is undoubtedly essential in this time in history and can definitely sit right up there with Hillary Clinton’s historic LGBT Rights Speech she gave in Geneva, Switzerland, in recognition of International Human Rights Day.

On March 7, 2012, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon delivered a historic speech asking countries around the world to decriminalize same sex relationships, and end discrimination of LGBT people. The response at the UN? A handful of delegates stormed out of the meeting in protest. Watch this remixed version of Ban Ki-moon’s speech, and let us know what you think is so controversial about it.
