not one but two live sessions were capture worthy from this past week’s SODOMIGHTY party and they both stand on their own, taking you, the listener, on two very different journeys. ‘constellation leviticus’ is the soundtrack for an outer space escapade when you are ‘sitting on top of the world’ for two reasons. you are above all the drama at the same time you’re not welcome back down on the ground. this frenetic paced stomper of a mix takes off like a rocket and only lets up as a very special woman beckons you to breathe at the end. enjoy this mix as the beats and bleeps work ‘overtime’ to propel you to zero gravity and might possibly leave you ‘black and blue’. don’t say we didn’t warn you!
this mix shows off dj chauncey d’s skill at blending tracks old and new together whether in their original form or a modernized rework. ‘pump up the brimstone’ takes you on a wild ride from the beginning as the eerie intro gives way to an all out roller coaster of percussion and synths. this mix was snatched near the peak hour of his set at his weekly residency in the east village at woody’s. how do you become SODOMIGHTY? well you first have to ‘pump up the brimstone’!
