TWO PERFORMANCES – THURSDAY JULY 26 and FRIDAY JULY 27 at 8pm.
Fordham University @ Lincoln Center
113 West 60th Street
Co-presented by Perfect Disgrace Theater and the Fordham Alumni Theater Company on their Lincoln Center Campus in the Kehoe Theater.
Penned by Brian Bauman and directed by Kate Gagnon, A CRUCIBLE follows a Catholic high school’s drama club as it sets out to stage Arthur Miller’s classic. Conflicts erupt when ideas about sexuality and contemporary performance begin to influence the young performers cast in the show. The young women and men, fueled by passion for black magic and avant garde tropes, stage a coup to build a version that addresses their lives . Re-appropriating Miller, as well as Marilyn Monroe and Andy Warhol’s diaries, John Huston’s film The Misfits and other texts, A CRUCIBLE is a darkly comic play about the power and problems of performance.
